The term "face value" quite literally means the value of a coin that's inscribed on it, so the face value of a 10p coin is just that, 10 pence.

In addition, it's a common circulating coin in the U.K. so it has no collector value.

To illustrate the difference, there is a particular variety of Lincoln cent from 1909 called an "S VDB" cent because it was minted in San Francisco ("S") and has the designer's initials (VDB) on the back. Its face value is what it always was, one cent. However it's very rare and its collector value can be as high as $78,000! That's a lot of pennies.

A Bank of England Ten Pound note (Series E - orange)(Chief Cashier G.E.A. Kentfield - depending on the serial number), uncirculated and in absolute mint condition could fetch anything from £30 to £80 GBP. If it has been circulated, not much.

The concept of "Double Die" should not exist with modern coins, since coin "dies" are no longer made by hand. The "double" occurs during the manufacture of the "die" when the "die" is manually handled during the two or three processes required to complete the "die".

However, it is not impossible (only difficult) for a coin to be struck twice during the minting process.

The more obvious the doubling is, the greater the potential value of the coin.

Genuinely flawed coins are not necessarily known about or documented until somebody turns up with one, since they are an "accident" of the minting process, and have escaped detection during quality control at the mint therefore, a valuation cannot be anticipated.

A reputable coin dealer should be able to identify and confirm the coin as genuine and make a valuation.
