Model 48 that was in production from 1943 'til 1956. you might see dollar sines.

On the left side of the receiver - you should find the Model Number, under that should be the manufacturer's name and address and under that probably a line with a patent number. Just before the patent number there should be one or two capital letters set off by themselves. What is that letter or letters. H&R

serial numbered the receivers, sometimes also found on the factory fitted barrels. Barrels are "portable". They can bereplaced Get that info to the latest gun value website or forum (like the firearmsforum) and type in those #'s. Good luck. James
