your shotgun was made by Sears/ High standard in 1958 . These guns are excellent guns if in good condition they are imfamous for magazine feed problems . Though easily corrected by a competent gunsmith. They are also old fashioned in that they are bolt action and not very popular. Today every body whats a pump or semi auto . In good and experienced hand these guns are just as effective as any of the above guns. Also your gun is 16 gauge though the 16 gauge is a very good gauge it is not as popular as 20 or 12 gauge guns. truth be known that is that 16 gauge usually patterns better than 20 or 12 gauge is much more effective than 20 gauge and every bit as good as 12 gauge. That all being said most gun shops would be reluctant to buy the gun due to the above issuses and if they did they would pay as little as possible 20 to 40 dollars. The good news is these guns are scarce they are one of the least common of the J C Higgins bolt shotguns.Their are Sears collectors I am one of them own many of these guns. These were very nice for what they are and I bought one 583 1101 in 16 gauge it was like new I paid 45 bucks for it from a gun dealer however I bought one exactly the same I paid 100 bucks for that one If I find them I pay what the owner whants for it the value is 40 to 120 bucks depending on condition
