i have a Stevens like the one you speak of.....here is what mine is stamped....hope it helps.....top, patented august 12 1913 right side of receiver trade mark Stevens reg us pat off & fgn Stevens arms company chicopee falls mass. usa left side stamped nitro special.........
BREV is usually stamped on gold jewelry and other gold pieces. It is a abbreviation 'brevetto.' Which is Italian and means that the jewelry is licensed or patented.
That patent date identifies a Stevens single shot.
My Worthington Special 12 ga. has "1929 model" stamped right on the barrel
Not sure just what you have- .38 Long Colt and .38 Special are different cartridges. Can we ask that you recheck markings (and spelling- relguin?) and repost? You can also post a message on my message board. We need make, all markings, barrel length, number of shots, break open or flipout, etc.
That would be a model 1889.
