There are many reproductions made of the Colt cap & ball revolvers, mostly Italian. You must determine if it is a genuine Colt or a reproduction. A local gunsmith can easily tell you if the gun is worth further research.
If it's a 1863 model then it would be a cap and ball model, not cartridge, and it would be about a 31 or 36 caliber. However, if the piece was converted to cartridge then it COULD be a 32 cal. cartridge.
Depending on condition, box, accessories, papers, etc., it can range from 100-500 USD
Depend on who made it and is it an original or Italian copy.
Which .45 handgun are you referring to? The .45 Colt revolver (Peacemaker) goes back to about 1873. The traditional "45 Auto" was adopted by the US Military in 1911, but there were other, earlier .45 caliber automatics. And of course, .45 caliber black powder ball and cap pistols, ball and cap revolvers, etc are MUCH earlier than the Peacemaker. So... which handgun?
$1,800 I can't imagine $1,800 for a T/C muzzle loader! This is obviously not the inexpensive Renegade Model which as used brings around $125 and like new might go for $250. Is this 54 caliber percussion Hawken Model a custom shop or commemorative model? <><><> Agree- depending on condition, these sell for around $200.
It should be a #11 cap.
T/C Renegades are selling for between $150-200. Excellent rifles, but they are being overlooked in the rush to buy an in-line 209 primed rifle. Market for them has been down for past 3 years.
It was a .41 caliber cap and ball pocket pistol marked Derringer and is on display at the Ford's Theater National Historic Site in Washington, DC.
