I have a winchester model 87-22 and looking for a bolt for it. I may have to go custom. The serial number won't be found as the requirement to serialize guns wasn't until the late 1960's. Your rifle is circa 1930's or pre WWII. As for price, not sure but, mine is priceless to me.
The winchester model 1887 shotguns came with black walnut, for wood.
the Stevens model 87 was made 1938-1945,with total production of 200,000.
Made from 59-87.
not sure but I do know that in 1944 there were only 87 model 12's produced, so they might have a little more value or not? but in "good condition" I would say at least $400-$500(min)
Whatever you are willing to pay. Range from 10-1000 USD and up
HigginsThis rifle was made by Savage /Stevens They sold them as the Model 6/87 semi auto rifle a very good rifle .The Tenite stock and JC Higgins name means It was made after WW2 Infact it was made around 1950 the value is around 100 to 150 dollars depending on condition how ever dealers pay considerably less for them .But that is what they sell them for. The model 87 with tenite stock is in demand with Stevens collectors even those made for JC Higgins Sears and Roebuck
The stevens model 87 which is what you have was made from 1938-thru the early 1980,s.There were 1.8 million made during this time span.

I would try You-Tube for a video of the procedure first.
The rifle sounds like the Model 81 from Marlin, I don't think they made an 87. I believe $75 is a good price on a functional 22 rifle, if it's not beat to death. Did you ask this question over on the CZ forums??
Absolute value of 87 is 87.
I believe that this rifle is part of the J.Stevens Model 87 family. Depending on condition, the value is between $50 and $150. See 29th (2008) Edition of "Blue Book of Gun Values", page 1702.
The Stevens model 87 was made from 1938-1982,with a total production of 1,800,000 made during this time span.
