Farthings were not minted from silver, only bronze in 1901. If you have a silver Farthing it would be because somebody has plated it. Modified coins have no collector value.
As of September 2012, the limited edition Wayne Gretzky retirement medallion has a value of $200usd.
it's a race MEDALLION it's worth 500 to 1000 in US

Plated coins are considered to be altered items with no extra numismatic value.
The silver medallion was not issued by the US mint, and has little if any collectors value. If the medallion is made of pure sliver, it should be marked something like .999 Silver. Normally Sliver rounds also are marked 1 troy oz. Sterling Silver is 95% pure silver, the value of medallion would depend upon the wight. If it's not marked it maybe silver plated and have no silver value. The price for a troy Ounce of Sliver can be found on a number of websites. Today silver is about $13.00 a ounce, but this changes daily. eBay is a great place to research what the medallion might be worth. Coin Dealers and Pawn shops will not pay full value for gold or silver, remember they must make a profit when they resell. Try to sell it to a individual. Internet auction sites like eBay offer a world wide market.
First of all, theres no such thing as "silver plated sterling". Sterling is 92.5% silver, anything plated is just plated. If the item is solid sterling silver, its metal value depends on the current price of silver - but it may be worth more as a collectible. If it's plated base metal it has very little value.

The value of a chrome plated colt python with a 4 digit serial is $800.
It is only gold plated which adds no extra value. Since it is a gold plated coin it is considered altered and is worth face value.
If it has been copper plated, it's still just a dime.
