4/5 Quart !
This coin has a eagle on one side and a double eagle on the other. On the side with the eagle head it has written American Eagle Bicentennial 1985 and on the side with the double eagle is written double eagle commemorative with stars and 200 years It appears to have a silver base with the eagle's done in gold. It is in a clear plastic case. Any ideas of worth?
Double eagle commemorative 200 th aniversary
Depending on condition, between $20.00 and $50.00.
The American Eagle Bicentennial quarter with the double eagle isn't overly valuable. In good condition, they can sell as high as $50 but no higher.
Except for the Bicentennial reverse, the reverse of the Kennedy half dollar motif is the presidential coat of arms.
Bicentennial, not centennial. 1776-1976 is two hundred years. Bicentennial commemoratives have the Liberty Bell and moon in their design. Other dates have an image of the eagle landing on the moon. In circulated condition these coins are interesting curiosities but have no extra value. Uncirculated copper-nickel ones are worth about $2. Uncirculated 40% silver Bicentennial dollars are in the $7-8 range.
No! Bicentennial quarters are all from 1976 and have a different 'tail' side that has a drummer in a tricorn hat instead of the eagle. The date on the front also will say 1776-1976 under G.W.'s head. Here is a great link that has a picture of a bicentennial quarter on it if you scroll partway down (see Related Links).
ALL US half dollars except the Bicentennial designs have an eagle on the back so that doesn't really specify any particular coin. Please post a new question with the coin's date and mint mark.
There's nothing called a "commerative" coin. There are COMMEMORATIVE coins, but an coin from 1985 is unlikely to commemorate any major bicentennial. Special coins were minted in 1976 for the 200th anniversary of independence, and others were minted in 1989 for the 200th anniversary of the Constitution.
All Eisenhower dollars (except the bicentennial issues) have the same reverse showing an eagle landing on the moon. This is a adaptation of the Apollo 11 mission insignia.
Uh, ALL US half dollars except the Bicentennial designs have an eagle on the back so that doesn't really specify any particular coin. Please post a new question with the coin's date and mint mark.
I have one I am looking to sell. All wood and in fairly good condition. The gold painted eagle and accents are still clearly visible. "Reg No. 893"
