In trying to answer the question: What is the value of a 1906 38 Smith & Wesson Special serial number V75799? All the info that I find is on the 1905 38 Smith & Wesson Police & Military Revoler.Although it dose not give the serial number, but it dose show a picture in silver color with black grip's at $395.00.You can find more info at this web page: Dixie Gun Works.com, it list's alot of info on lot's of hand guns.Hope this has been of some help to you . Good Luck.
A Smith and Wesson model 66 stainless steel 4" barrell with no dash after the serial number is one of the earliest year guns. It should have all stainless metal with stainless sights front and rear. Black sights or orange inleted front sight is newer model. A no dash with orginal stocks in very good condition can go between 450 to 850 dollars depending on condition of workings and finish. Stock condition has little effect on value.
S&W never made a 38 Magnum. A Model 36-10, AKA The 38 Chief's Special, which is chambered in 38 Special, is worth 100-400 USD

Made in 1988 / 89 as a special run. 4 or 6 inch tube, 1500 some of the 4 and 2k plus of the 6 inch. Wish they made more black stainless guns as I like them. Worth a bit more due to collector interest.
