First, the Liberty Seated design used on dimes, quarters, halves, and dollars in the mid-19th century was created by Christian Gobrecht. Charles Barber's famous image of Miss Liberty appeared in 1892 on dimes, quarters and halves but never on silver dollars.
Second, no US silver dollars were struck for circulation in 1858. Only 300 proof coins were made that year and those that remain are considered to be extremely rare.
