It all depends on what you want to do with it. The XL-900 is in my eyes the best auto loader ever made (20gauge with slug barrel) for deer hunting.I have been trying to purchase one for many years. There are not alot of these guns for sale(everone who has them will not sell them). I think a fair market price for one in good condition is around $500.
Some of the 900XL shotguns have the stainless plating on the actions that include engraving. Usually the value will increase by 100-150 dollars given the condition of the gun.
I just purchased a 12 gauge 900XL for $225 at my local gun shop, but it has a poly-choke.
Your Ithaca model XL-900 which was made between 1973-1978,will range in price between 150-245 dollars for a example showing between 60%-95% of its original finish, and in good operating condition.
An Ithaca model 51 magnum 3 inch shotgun is worth $275-$325, depending on condition.

what is the value of a Ithaca 12 ga shotgun

I have been looking at XL900's for 12 years now and I have found out that in the last 5 years they are getting harder to find for sale. It all depends on the condition. I have bought some Ithaca XL900's for $200.00 and I have had to pay $900.00 for some of them. Condition means alot. The gas-operated seems to be what everyone is looking for. Also the slug barrel for the gun is what alot of people are looking for. If you need more information or pictures you can email me at email@example.com Good luck David Krupinski
Monitor www.gunbroker.com for comparables to get an idea of what this might sell for. I suspect, if in very good condition, it might bring $400-$600.

With the serial number that you provided, your Ithaca double barrel shotgun is a Flues Model shotgun that was produced in the year 1925.As to the value, that would be difficult to determine with Ithaca making many different Grades of the Flues model shotgun, along with many different special order features that could be ordered.I would have someone that is experienced with double barrel shotguns appraise your firearm.
