I am pretty sure the Wards Westernfield Model 53 was made by Iver Johnson. Externally the Model 53 and Iver Johnson Hercules look identical. I believe the Iver Johnson Hercules was made from 1918 to 1936.
20-125 or so
My Iver Johnson 20 ga bearing the serial bbbb is from 1910-24. If it is any help I believe they are from the same era.
single barrel was probably an Iver Johnson. There were double barrel models made probably by Iver Johnson and possibly Stevens. They were made under contract after WWI for Sharpliegh Hardware in St Louis. This was common practice as Iver Johnson would put your Company name or logo or P/N on anything they made . Iver Johnson originally made bicycles and merged into firearms. Their Champion guns were sold with as many as 20+ different names on them. I have 6 different guns and they all resemble each other very much. Am looking for an extractor for a 12 gague single Champion.
Manufactured for Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlet & Co circa 1920-1950 by Davenport or Iver Johnson. Worth up to $75.
The Iver Johnson skeet-er is going for 800-1500 dollars depending on condition. You could add more if it has auto ejectors(30%)single selective trigger(50%)non selective trigger(20%),factory vent rib(100%),If this was made in Italy instead of the U S you can detract 25% from the above values.
The FBUX letters on an Iver Johnson shotgun is the serial number. Iver Johnson, in the later years of production, used the word "Fitchburg" and assigned a number for each letter as follows: F=1, I=2, T=3, C=4, H=5, B=6, U=7, R=8, G=9, and the "X" was for 0. Therefore, the serial number is 1670.
