An uncirculated Philadelphia half from 1972 retails for about $1.
Check that coin again. Eisenhower was on a large dollar, and Kennedy is on the half dollar. Either way, a circulated specimen is worth face value.
Assuming that it was struck at Philadelphia and is circulated it is worth face value. If it is uncirculated they will sell for $1 to $20 depending on quality.
If it is a U.S. half dollar the bird on the reverse is the same as that on all other U.S. quarters, halves and dollars - the American Eagle. Unless your coin is uncirculated it is only worth face value.
Since 1971 all circulating half dollars have been made of copper-nickel, not silver. Your coin is only worth face value unless it's in uncirculated condition.
It's not a half dollar because the UK doesn't use dollars. It's a half-pound coin because the UK uses pounds sterling as its currency. That aside, it was a common circulation coin until it was replaced with a smaller version in the early 1990s. It would have value to a collector only if it was in almost-uncirculated or uncirculated condition, anywhere from maybe $6 to $15.
the 1972 Kennedy half dollar is worth 50 cents in circulated condition, or about a dollar in uncirculated condition
A date is needed, post new question
If your 1972 coin is a uncirculated example it may be worth about $5.00 because the 1971 & 1972 issue coins were not included in the Uncirculated Mint sets sold from the Mint in those years. None of the Eisenhower dollars regardless of date or mintmark struck for general circulation have any silver and most are not worth more than face value. Only proof and uncirculated collectors coins sold from the Mint have premiums.
An uncirculated coin should have no wear whatsoever on it.
The coin is face value
