Marriage is not valued in Wuthering Heights. Cathy marries Edgar for money, Heathcliff marries Isabella so he can inherit her land. Neither of these are sufficent reasons for marriage. Also Heathcliff forces young Cathy into a marriage with his ill son so he can inherit all of her fathers land when he dies.

However At the end of the book young catherine marries Hareton for love.
