What sort of dress was Marilyn Monroe buried in it has long been customary to lay out blondes in pink night dresses but you wonder about ms Monroe?

Marilyn Monroe lay in an open bronze casket lined with champagne colored satin. Partially exposed, she was dressed in her green Pucci dress and a green chiffon scarf. In her hands was a posy of pink teacup roses, a gift from DiMaggio. To read more about her funeral, obituaries and see photographs of the funeral, visit the Related Link. WHAT LINK??? WHERE IS IT THEN??Some precise details can be added:p { margin-bottom: 0.25cm; line-height: 120%; }a:link { }Marilyn Monroe was buried in a luxury coffin which was called the "Cadillac of caskets": a silver finished 15 ga / 48 oz (that is: extra strong and heavy) solid bronze "Masterpiece" casket with a hand tufted champagne colored velvet, satin and silk interior manufactured by the renown Belmont Casket Company of Columbus, Ohio (which also had another plant in Shadyside, Ohio). The casket was equipped with a hermetically sealing (air and water tight) double lid, but not with the also available additional inner glass panel.Although the Belmont factory closed in 1979, the "Masterpiece" design is still in production. It is manufactured today (2014) under the same name by VerPlank Enterprises of Tennessee, although the original design underwent a few minor changes: while the ornamental beadings of the Monroe "Masterpiece" still exist, the swing bar handles look now slightly different. Interestingly however, VerPlank still offers the "Masterpiece" with a silver finished exterior like that of Marilyn Monroe's Belmont casket. Pictures of the "Silver Twin Seal Masterpiece" are shown in the VerPlank Online casket catalog.

What kind of casket was Marilyn Monroe buried in?

Marilyn Monroe was buried in an expensive luxury casket selected by Joe DiMaggio at the Westwood Village Memorial Park. The casket was a silver finished "Masterpiece" solid bronze casket which was made of extra strong 15 ga wrought bronze (15 gauge means partially made of 48 ounces per square foot sheets and partially of 64oz sheets), resulting in a casket weight between 300 and 400 lbs empty. The casket had a hermetically sealed double lid, but no additional inner glass panel. The interior was of champagne colored hand tufted velvet with some satin and silk. The "Masterpiece" was the top of the line product of the renown Belmont casket company of Columbus, Ohio (with another factory at Shadyside, Ohio), a firm which also provided the caskets of President Woodrow Wilson and Lyndon Johnson. The Masterpiece" design, which soon became known as the "Cadillac of Caskets" had been registered as a trademark in 1957.After the Belmont plant had been closed at the end of the 1970s, the "Masterpiece" and some other Belmont designs were bought by the VerPlank casket company of Iron City, Tennessee. Since then, the "Masterpiece" underwent only some very minor changes (with regard to the handles for example). Thus, the silver finished 48oz double lid "Masterpiece Twin seal" shown in the VerPlank Online catalog still looks more or less the same as Marilyn Monroe's casket.

Who did Marilyn Monroe affect?

I'm doing a report on the different social standards dealing with sexuality from the 1950's to now. It is very interesting to find information on this. One thing I have found that I know for sure is that Hugh Hefner and Marilyn Monroe changed society with the first Playboy magazine in December of 1953 (the first and only issue without a bunny on it because Hefner did not know if there would be a second issue, obviously there was). Marilyn Monroe was the sex goddess of the 50's and it was proven with the nude picture in Playboy. By posing nude and letting the picture be published in a magazine that sold millions of copies, Marilyn Monroe went against the social role that was set for women during those times. She took the house-wife, perfect, do everything for your husband image and threw it out the window after lighting it on fire! Men were forced to acknowledge women as a sexual being as well as a house keeper and child bearer. From the day that issue of Playboy came out society has kept changing. Now look how far pornography has come. Take a look at the conduct code that was set for TV programs in the 50's and you will be able to tell that 90% of our TV programs now would not have been approved then. Summary: By posing nude in the first issue of Playboy magazine Marilyn Monroe and Hugh Hefner changed society forevever.

What is the value of a single bar of silver?

The value of a bar of silver will depend on both the weight of the bar and the purity of the silver itself. In general, silver is going for $17-19 per ounce. If you try and sell, you will get slightly less than this because whatever company buys the bar will want to make a profit when they resell it to the next customer. One single bar of silver is going to cost about ten to sixteen dollars. It pays about thirteen fifty for an ounce. It is kind of cheap but it is something.
