There is no vehicle speed sensor wire. The transmission computer calculates vehicle speed from its output speed sensor and sends that information on the communication wires to the cluster.
Goes from the VSS to the ECM. Find the VSS, and you can trace it from there.
It attaches to VSS on tranny by where it meets driveshaft.
the vss wire is located as the purple/white wire above the radio, the harness plugging into the clock. tap into the purple/white wire for your aftermarket headunit vss wire.
normally its the yellow/red wire. you can find it underthe hood in the wire harness right above your fan.

Ford E-series vans have a pigtail in the wire harness tucked beneath the drip rail in the engine compartment. There's a marked speed wire there - grey/black, 8000ppm.
if you can tell me where the VSS wire is located, say brake module, radio etc. i have complete wiring diagram that's 15 pages long, and can track it.

ford vss wire locationif the harness is similar to 02 ranger look behnd radio to the left there is a module the grey/black is the vss also if your vehicles radio volume automaticaly increases with the speed of your vehicle then the wire will also be located in your radio harness hope this helps>>>>> Jim t
on the automatic transition and PMC (vehicle computer) blue with white wire (wire A30 VSP - vehicle speed pulse)
Ummm in short you cant...its ecu computer controlled.....You can however remove your vss....vehicle speed sensor...but then your speedometer wont work..... Some use mechanical/electromechanical sensors....If you locate the vss look for a wire harness...if you find it hook up a toggle switch to deactivate the vss
I am trying to find answer to this question too, for at least 4 weeks. Please if anyone could help it will be great. Thanks!
