For you to enter the Spirit Temple you must have past through all the other temples, but the only one you need to complete it's the Water Temple. You can simply get the Special Item inside every temple, make your way till you reach the Bosses' Door and do not defeat the boss (except for the Water Temple), then you can go to the Spirit Temple.
Assuming you will beat each whole individual temple, (and not leave after getting the item,) The order goes like this. 1. Forest Temple 2. Fire Temple* 3. Water Temple* 4. Shadow Templeº 5. Spirit Templeº The Temples with the markers could be finished before or after the one with the marker of the same type, but this is the standard/classic order.
