A day late but...If your employee moved within the last year and you are unsure of their current address, mail it to their last known address. Any responsible person who moves will file a forwarding address with USPS, which will remain in affect for 1 year. The W-2 will be forwarded to their current address. If the mail is returned to you, you'll have to wait for the employee to contact you with their current address. I would send the W-2 registered mail with a delivery receipt request for your own protection and to show your compliance. Also, it wouldn't hurt to contact your local IRS office and tell them the W-2 was returned. Hope that helps!
