The Great Storm of 1900 pretty simple if ya' ask me.
The Great Storm blew ashore at Galveston, Texas on September 8, 1900 killing 6,000 island residents and another 4,000-6,000 elsewhere.
A seawall was built in Galveston to keep out the storm surge.
There do not appear to be any reliable records of tornadoes spawned by the Galveston hurricane. There is a chance that the storm did produce tornadoes, but back in 1900 there was no system of record keeping for tornadoes as there is today.
The chief meteoroligist in Galveston during the storm of 1900 was Isaac Cline.

1. The Great Galveston Hurricane Galveston, Texas September 8, 1900 This unnamed hurricane caused the greatest loss of life of any Hurricane in recorded US history. First tracked in Cuba as a tropical storm on Sept. 3, it hit Galveston as a Category 4 Hurricane. An estimated 6,000 - 12,000 people died as storm tides of eight to 15 feet washed over the barrier island. The tragedy was documented in the recent book, Isaac's Storm.
Because it killed more people than any other storm to hit the U.S. It killed 6,000 to 12,000 and almost completely destroyed the city of Galveston.
