What is the weight limit to ride a bicycle?

I just read on Schwinn.com that there are no weight limits for Schwinn bicycles because it's more the way the bike is used rather than the weight of the individual on the bike. Their example is 120 lb boy riding bikes over curbs, bouncing on the tires, etc. will do more damage to a bike than a 400 lb individual riding the bike for exercise purposes. There's really no good answer to that as it's highly dependent on exactly what bike it is (Schwinn make a whole range), how well maintained it is, and riding style.

At standstill, or during sedate riding on smooth surfaces an "average" bike can take about 300 kilos (abt 600 lbs) w/o collapsing as long as the tires are properly inflated.

But the more dynamic the riding becomes the lesser the tolerable weight becomes. Basically anyone over 100 kilos (200 lbs) should take care, and consult a good bike mechanic, before taking up hard and serious riding.

The weight limit of bicycles is usually 250 lbs. for a 26" bicycle.
