If you mean what is the point of the game itself, it was to bring the heirs closer and for them to have a better life (than Sam Westing). If you mean what was the point of writing the book, it was because Ellen Raskin got inspiration from her personal life and wanted to write something about it.

∙ 14y agoThe Westing Game was started in Sam Westing's will/ riddle that stated that one of the heirs to the fortune had killed him. The sixteen people were paired in to groups of two and each group had a couple words. If you put together the words it will be the words of America the Beautiful but some words are missing, if you did this correctly than the missing words should spell out Berthe Erica Crow.
