As a verb, such as he or she loves, you would say ama; el ama / ella ama.

As a noun, such as he has had two great loves, you would say amores; el ha tenido dos gran amores.

-Also, loves as in "he loves cakes", would be "le gusta" or plural "le gustaN"

Eg: He loves sweet stuff = Le gustan las cosas dulces

Additionally, if he/she REALLY loves something you can say "le encanta" or "le encantan"
