i don't know the word but lead can be extracted from lead oxide (i did this at school) by putting the 'oxide into a test tube, then putting that test tube over a Bunsen burner ;) and waiting... and waiting... AND waiting THEN voila you have created the element of LEAD! :\ very boring but who cares? *this is the bit where I'm supposed to talk really fast* CAUTIONS! Bunsen burners are very dangerous ALWAYS have the safety flame on when you aren't using it! (the colour is orange) ALWAYS have safety goggles on! AND ALWAYS have an adult with you unless you are and adult... in that case get your MUM to help you!

hope this helped!

How do you separate pure lead nitrate from lead oxide?

If you could get a high enough temp. you could heat it in a retort of some kind and collect the oxygen given off and lead would be left. The old school way was to heat the lead oxide on a block of carbon using a bunsen and blow pipe to provide extra oxygen for a hotter flame. The extra heat caused the oxygen from the lead oxide to combine with the carbon to form carbon dioxide and lead was left on the carbon block.
