The journal page is on top of the ruins, and you can get it by climbing the vine to the first platform, then jumping left. The word "open" is spelled by pressing the 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th symbols from the left, and then pressing the nose.

There are two "keys" on Shark Tooth Island, neither of them a real "key" : 1) The "translation key" which is a page from Professor Hammerhead's journal. It shows how the ancient hieroglyphic symbols translate into English. Spelling out the word "OPEN" in these symbols will open the ruins door. The page is on the roof of the ruins. 2) The "key ingredient" is the green substance that make the shark sleping potion work. It is far to the left in the underground ruins. (see related questions)
