I think that Twilight is the worst book ever because the main character has no personality out side her boyfreind, and is a very unrealistic character. There is also purple prose, and the plot gets sort of ridiculous because it overplays the idea of "forbidden love."

Given that this is an opinion question, there is no definitive answer, but in my opinion, the worst book ever was Marked, from the series House of Night. The book includes run-ons and sentence fragments to the point of not being understandable at times, and the character is flat, spoiled, and unchaste, though she bashes other characters for the same thing. The main character of House of Night is portrayed in the most positive light imaginable, and the only people who are against her are either evil, just jealous of her, or spiteful for no reason. She is the epitome of Mary Sue, and the book bears much resemblance to the Fanfic My Immortal,which is hailed as the worst fanfic ever written.
