Answer from WRB: I think it is a cow-hide rug, but it's kinda hard to tell from the picture. The hair colours of the rug have me suspecting that it is from different coloured hides of cattle. And the stitches wouldn't be so large if it were from maybe horse or goat hide. It is very nice though.

bug rug
