Tracer study is a simple tool designed to measure the relevance of vocational training. It is seen as a management tool for planning and monitoring of training programmes- ie:- which course to add, change or phase out. They provide information for programmatic changes and review of training curricula. They also help to monitor the delivery of training.

This can be used as a marketing tool as well.
