Why do paging systems need to provide low data rate?

Due to its low data rate, the signal BW is only around 5 to 10kHz. The sensitivity of a typical pager can comes to -130dBm. Meanwhile, since paging service is normally one-way, the transmitter can be very high in power level. They are typical around 100 to 500W and build on mountain high. So that's why the coverage is large.

What is data center?

A data center is a central area where digital information is processed, stored, and delivered from. A typical data center is physically and digitally secured to protect data, air and humidity conditioned to protect hardware, connected by network connections to transfer large amounts of data, typically including routers and load balancing devices, and containing a number of "application servers" for storing, processing, and retrieving data. The entire point of a data center is to store all of the data in one physical area, which is easier to manage, more efficient (and thus, less costly), and easier to back up.
