Due to its low data rate, the signal BW is only around 5 to 10kHz. The sensitivity of a typical pager can comes to -130dBm. Meanwhile, since paging service is normally one-way, the transmitter can be very high in power level. They are typical around 100 to 500W and build on mountain high. So that's why the coverage is large.

What is the predominant reason for slight pauses in an applicatin when retrieving information from the paging file?

My best guess would be that, because the paging file is stored on the hard drive and considering that the hard drive is the slowest medium to retrieve infromation from, that it is caused by the computer looking for the correct information from a slower source.

What is a data type?

Data type, or more commonly datatype as it related to database management systems is the phyisical format by which the data in a database managment is stored on the computers harddrive. The datatypes are database specific. In general, you need to have the same datatype to be able to compare, sort, append data. Data that is not of the same type needs to be CAST or converted to the other datatype before such operations on the data can be performed. Many times this conversion is internal, but in some database management systems, you ned to explicitly convert the data.

What is the purpose of flow control?

The management of data flow between devices in a network. It is used to avoid too much data arriving before a device can handle it, causing data overflow. It can prevent the loss of segments on the network and avoid the need for retransmissions.

Why need of separate data warehouse?

3 Main reasons: 1.OLTP systems require high concurrency, reliability, locking which provide good performance for short and simple OLTP queries. An OLAP query is very complex and does not require these properties. Use of OLAP query on OLTP system degrades its performance. 2.An OLAP query reads HUGE amount of data and generates the required result. The query is very complex too. Thus special primitiveshave to provided to support this kind of data access. 3.OLAP systems access historical data and not current volatile data while OLTP systems access current up-to-date data and do not need historical data.

Minimum size of paging file required?

There is no need for paging at all if your programs doesn't ask for it. Globally you should have at least 2MB of it. Some games and programs demands more.

Why database manufacturers common formats to import and export database from their system?

Systems need to be compatible as people use data on all sorts of systems and need to transfer it or upgrade it from old systems. If manufacturers did not have the capability to use data structures from other systems, then people with other systems would not be able to transfer their data and so they would lose everything if they wanted to adapt to a new system. It is just like in other areas of technology where you have lots of manufacturers, but their products have to be compatible, like mobile phones or video players or televisions or computers etc.
