Sepsis in an illness caused by a bacteria in the body. In this case "Uro" refers to a urinary source. Urosepsis is an infection from a urinary source. In this case bacteria enters the body through the urethra into the bladder. A common cause are foley catheters which are inserted when a patient is not able to urinate on their own, and urinary tract infections. An UTI can develop and if it further progresses the bacteria spreads to the blood and can be fatal. Prompt antiobiotic treatment is needed to treat illness, otherwise blood pressure can fall, depriving organs of blood and oxygen and death can occur.

What are the symptoms of urosepsis?

The symptoms of urosepsis include, but are not limited to, an increased rate of breathing, increased heart rate, and a decreased amount of urinaton. It is also worth noting that prior to developing these symptoms, you may experience symptoms of a typical UTI (Urinary Tract Infection), such as blood in the urine, or pain while urinating.

Can you have kidney pain?

I think burning sensation after urination, some itchy sensation, foul-smelling or cloudy urine; these are some kidney infection indication, but these symptoms are also related to other diseases so contact your doctor. Paraphrased from Wikipedia.org1: Pyelonephritis (also referred to as "urosepsis" interchangeably) results when a urinary tract infection travels through the ureters to the kidneys. Symptoms include: High spiking fever, backache, vomiting, dysuria (painful voiding), rigors (shaking or trembling, hematuria (blood in the urine) that may or may not be visible, and possible confusion (occurs more often in elderly). You also may have lower back pain on the flank area, including the area being tender to the touch upon examination. As mentioned earlier, this is a serious medical condition and requires antibiotic treatment. If you are experiencing these symptoms, please visit your physician for proper treatment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most of the time when you have a kidney infection, you pee blood.
