Plastic wrap is a thin, flexible material used for covering food containers or for wrapping food items to keep them fresh. Shrink wrap is a thicker, more rigid material used for wrapping and protecting items for shipping or storage. Shrink wrap shrinks when heat is applied, conforming tightly to the shape of the object.
Plastic wrap, seran wrap, as well as tin foil is used for sealing foods (that are left over) for later. You place the food on a dish or in a glass bowl or something and cover it with tin foil or seran wrap and make sure that it is as close to air tight as possible, with the edges tucked under the handles and rims. Zip lock bags do the same thing, except they are smaller but they don't need anything else, except a fridge, of course.
