Rift Valley
Not an answer, but I've thought the same thing! Valles Marineris is usually described as being a rift valley caused by the crust splitting. But for the most part it is very straight - with parallel straight valleys - and resembles a deep "scratch" as if some body or bodies have hit it at a very oblique angle, ploughed a furrow, before either leaving Mars or breaking up. Is this possible?
Mars has several valleys, one of the most prominent being Valles Marineris, which is one of the largest canyon systems in the solar system. Stretching over 4,000 kilometers (about 2,500 miles) long and reaching depths of up to 7 kilometers (about 4 miles), it dwarfs the Grand Canyon on Earth. Valles Marineris is thought to have formed through a combination of tectonic activity, erosion, and possibly water flow in Mars' ancient past.
It has the largest mountains in the Solar System (all extinct volcanoes) and the largest valley, Valles Marineris but that's really it. It is the most Earth-like planet (aside from Earth) we know of (anywhere) which makes it the best candidate for an extraterrestrial base apart from the Moon.
Mars is the terrestrial planet known for having large gravitational pull that has contributed to the formation of cliffs on its surface. The most notable example is the Valles Marineris, a vast canyon system that stretches over 4,000 kilometers and features cliffs that rise up to 7 kilometers high. This geological feature illustrates the significant erosional and tectonic processes that have occurred on Mars, influenced by its gravity and geological history.
Yes, Mars has cliffs. Some of the most prominent cliffs on Mars are found in Valles Marineris, a massive canyon system that stretches over 2,500 miles long and averages about 5 miles in depth. These cliffs are thought to have formed through a combination of tectonic and erosional processes.

Mars is not considered a boring planet by many, as it has unique features that make it interesting to study and explore. It has a rich history of water activity, evidence of past life, intriguing landscapes like Valles Marineris and Olympus Mons, and ongoing missions like those of NASA's Perseverance rover and the UAE's Hope probe are actively exploring the planet.
