there are two types of pneumatic comparators. 1 is a back pressure type and the other is the flow velocity type. in back pressure type- comparators use air pressure to sense changes in dimension.
2 pressure signals are compared by being fed into 2 differnet bellows systems.
when the 2 signals are exactly equal, a balance point system will enable a beam and fulcrum system to position itself at the same relative distance to each bellows.
a pressure nozzle, which allows a portion of air supply to leak out will rest at a position;
zero point, which shows the beam is in a balance point position.
when there is a difference in the 2 input signals, this will effect the relation between the beam, fulcrum , by the input- bellows reaching a new position for each
and the movement will effect the air pressure in the nozzle line, which will be represnted at the output stage of measurement.
It is a methods of measuring lengths and diameters have been developed using controlled air pressure as an amplifying meduim.
