A written source is a document written and published for the public. My perception is that it also has documentation to back up the facts included.
A television programme or a live interview would be an example of a non-written source.
A primary source is a source material that is closely related to the subject discribed with in.
The use of an artifact as a primary source is different than the use of a written primary source because when you exacavate for an artifact, you may have to make guesses. However, with a written primary source, you don't need to guess as the writing inside will have the answers to your questions or guesses.
