NO!!!! this may indicate internal bleeding in the gut, digested blood looks like coffee ground in the stool. go see a doctor immidietly! this may be nothing but do you really want to take that chance? possibly blood in stool. See a doctor for tests.

Your faeces does change color. It could be black due to something that was in your diet. It could also be a sign of internal bleeding.

For instance, simply eating something like liquorice will change the colour of faeces black. Eating beetroot can add unusual pink colour to your urine, so almost anything you ingest will have effect the colour, texture and solidity of faeces.

Usually black or dark red lines horizontally in the stool indicates possible bleeding. The further up the intestine, the darker the colour is as the blood congeals.

Vertical lines usually of fresh red blood sometimes leaving a pink tinge in the toilet water indicate fissures (or splits) in the skin of the anus.

If it stays black for a number of days you should see a doctor.

Too much Iron in your diet. Cut down on vitamins It also can be caused by a bleeding in the upper GI. Go see a doctor
