So at this point depending where you live:

  • You may be responsible to pay all damages
  • May be charged for both misdemeanor and Felony crimes

Your insurance company may decide your car had no coverage because you allowed another person to drive it. The only up side is that your local police MAY allow you to charge the unlicensed driver with auto theft as he lied about his drivers licence. If they do your insurance should cover this.

If the police decide that you knew or should have known about his drivers licence problem and if he harmed someone you would be a co-defendant in any criminal prosecution.

What happens if you wreck someones car who has insurance but you have no license and they are not pressing charges?

If they are not pressing charges, then they are giving you permission to drive their vehicle. If you give someone who doesn't have a drivers license permission to drive your vehicle, you are voiding your insurance coverage. The Insurance company will not pay.

You have to have car insurance to get your license back?

The law requires insurance if you drive the car on public roads. It has nothing to do with your drivers license. Your driver license allows you to drive your car. Someone else can drive your car when your license is suspended with your permission. The laws vary from state to state and country to country so you need to know what your local laws are.

If someone stole your drivers license can you still drive?

No, even if someone stole your diver's license, you cannot drive. There is no proof that you ever had your driver's license, so you cannot drive. You need to go and replace the drivers license as soon as possible. Driving without one could result in a ticket should you be stopped. In most states, you can order a new one online.
