If your ex has a new girlfriend is he less likely to go through with his threats to kill you?

No! If he's abusive and you left him (even if he left you and you are dating again) he, as an abuser can still feel the urge to control you and often will. An abuser doesn't like to feel that "one got away." Some abusers can be less aggressive and may make the odd phone call to you or run into you at the places you frequent, but it goes no further than this is you stand firm. Since this person has threatened to kill you (hopefully by phone) then please tape record (on your speaker phone) those phone messages and take them into the police. NEVER stay alone, go into underground parking lots to your car, stay in well lit areas and try to be with a friend, cowork while walking too and from your work and leave malls with groups of people and not alone. It is legal to carry pepper spray (works because I use it) but illegal in some States and Canada to use Mace. DO NOT put yourself in a position of meeting with him or having him to your home!!!!! DO NOT keep in contact with him! DO NOT engage in arguments with him! HE'S DANGEROUS AND NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THIS GUY!!!! If the police can do little then go to your local Women's Abuse Center and they will help, and if you can't find where there is one then go to your local Mental Health and they will lead you in the right direction.
