Law is a schematised set of rules agreed upon by a select group intellectual individuals, (legislature) based on common ethical beliefs. The law is limitedly open to interpretation by a judge and lawyers who can decide what happens when the law is broken or when there is a law suit among other incidents.
In my opinion criminal law keeps people from committing acts of violence, stealing money, and earning money without having to pay the government a tax. Also it instills in us a sense of morals and ethics but these are also suggestions. One must find out what is wrong and what is right for him self.
This is more of a thesis question and not one suitable for a factual answer. Suggest that it be posted on a chatroom or blog which will draw the responses that the questioner seems to desire.
