In the 18th Century there were more farmers than any other job.
In the southern colonies, the most popular job was agricultural labor, particularly as a plantation worker. The economy heavily relied on cash crops such as tobacco, rice, and indigo, leading to a high demand for laborers, including enslaved people. Additionally, many colonists worked as overseers or in related trades to support the agricultural system. This focus on agriculture shaped the social and economic structures of the southern colonies.

Most were farmers I think. But some were also ironworkers and fur trappers.
In southern colonies they had/ grew poultry, dairy, cattle, eggs, vegetables, hogs, tobacco, soybeans, and they had nursery products. If there would be a job in the 1700s southern colonies it would be an apprentice, a farmer, a planter, or anything else that is listed in this list of products they made... or still make.
