The beauty of being a writer is that you don't necessarily need education - some of the best writers never even had the chance to go to school! Having said this, however, there are lots of educational opportunities linked to becoming a writer. English or another language at GCSE is helpful, as well as an English A-Level. Courses at college include creative writing practice, writing professionally and publishing. But a writer of course does not only concentrate on English stories - writers include those with scientific backgrounds, travel experiences... writers write from their own experiences, about what interests them, so the best education you can get is to identify what inspires you the most.
