Multiple personality disorder, or dissociative identity disorder, is a mental disease. It is when a person has two or more personalities that are not aware of the other(s) or does not identify them as being connected as being within the same body.

Split personality disorder can't kill you directly, but what you do because of it can. For example, Marie has split personality disorder. She sometimes goes to bars and goes home with strangers. One day, while she is doing this, a man that she goes home with kills her. Did she die because split personality disorder killed her? No. Did she die as an indirect result of split personality disorder? Yes.
