GM recommends Dex-cool, the orange stuff.
The regular universal green coolant.
Dexcool
Any high quality green type coolant would be acceptable for Chevrolet Cavalier. It should be mixed 50 percent with distilled water.
A 1997 Chevy Cavalier uses a standard 50/50 mix of antifreeze coolant and water. This keeps the engine from overheating and from freezing in the winter.
5 year red or orange in color
If it is green then any ethylene glycol or universal coolant will work if it is red/pink/orange then use a universal coolant, the mopar HOAT coolant or Zerex G-05 coolant.
Autozone/ advanced auto usually has antifreeze that goes with either kind. I suggest that.
Use a 50/50 mix of clean water and DEX-COOL antifreeze
for gods sake - read the bloody owners manual It used to be dexcool {orange} but G.M. has had some problems with that. I use a universal coolant I get at wall mart.
Don't confuse engine coolant and air conditioning refrigerant. Engine coolant is Dex cool- Do not use any other kind as the sensors in the system will read differently with the wrong coolant and make incorrect adjustments in your system. Air conditioning refrigerant in your car is R-134a.
Listed in your owner's manual. A 50/50 mix of the required antifreeze and water.
it uses dexcool coolant
