Depends on the gun. If it shoots round BB's then probably none. If it shoots pellets (a skirted air rifle/pistol projectile), and your gun has a rated velocity no less than 750 fps with lead, you can take a dove at a recommended max. range of 10 yards (30 ft). Though, obviously don't shoot if your gun isn't capable of the accuracy necessary to hunt. With a low powered air rifle (750 fps with lead) you need lazer-like precision so you can make a head/neck shot on the doves because it may not have the power necessary to plow through the chest to make a heart/lung shot.
If you live in a city, I would recommend not shooting any birds. But otherwise, any.
