You don't get a brace. You get a tight sock type thing to have for support and circulation but no brace. They won't want you to imobilize your knee, they want you to move it some.

Hey well i had an arthroscopic lateral release on July 12 of this past year. It was pretty successfull and cant really say that it was a mirical but then again i gues that is kind of my fault. Im a competitive cheerleader and put a lot of pressure on it and i went back soon after my surgery. Before i began cheering again the surgery had been the best thing i ever did. needless to the say the surgery did help out A LOT. im not in near as much pain now than it was about a year ago. I hope your surgery is successful. mine definatley was. Just don't get back into the physical stuff TOO soon. :)

No you don't wear a cast. In fact, many surgeons will have you doing some kind of work on range-of-motion right away. You will most likely be given a brace to wear most of the time, but it can be removed.
