Hundreds of years ago, the Mayans predicted that we would have astronauts landing on the moon, and as many years passed by, they got it right! So now scientist kind of believe that their prediction of the world ending might be true.

That the world is going to end. Also i think they predicted 9/11 not ecxatly that but they said that two buildings were goin to blow up. that is not true... it just ended... their calender was just like ours except it was way long it ended and the haven't found the rest, it was just an over reaction by human kind as usual.
You did not identify which calendar you mean by "ours", which in itself kind of answers your question. Around the world there are many different calendars being used, based on things like culture or religion. In terms of duration, some are based on the sun and some on the moon and some combining the two. So your calendar, be it the Islamic or Jewish or Gregorian or Bengali or one of the many others used, would be different to the Chinese calendar and all of the other ones.
