The two most common types of desert climates are hot desert climates and cold desert climates. Hot desert climates are usually found under the subtropical ridge, such as the Sahara, the Arabian, Syrian, and Kalahari Deserts, southern and central Pakistan, parts of Iran, the southwestern United States, Northern Mexico, northwest India, and the majority of Australia. Cold desert climates are most frequently found in Asia, and are in temperate zones. Some examples of cold desert climates are the Gobi, the Kyzyl Kum, the Taklamakan deserts in Asia, the Great Basin Desert in the US, and the Ladakh region in India.
The soil is covered usually by permafrost or rocks and underneath that there is clay like dirt. Most trees grow side ways roots to get as much nutrients as they can because most of it thrives at the top.
