What crimes will guarantee you the death penalty?

In the US jurisdictions which still have the death penalty, you are not "guaranteed" the death penalty. There are several 'capital crimes' cited among those that migh qualify BUT,currently usually only murder (the more heinous or coldblooded it is) will be the one act that would set in motion such a recommendation.

Does the death penalty deter crimes in Texas?

The level of deterrence is not really measurable. It is believed that it has reduced the level of capital crimes, but the actual levels would be pretty difficult to quantify due to all the other possible factors.

How does the death penalty save lives?

The death penalty is a punishment for people who have committed the most hanus of crimes. They are incarcerated and kept on death row until their execution date. This saves lives because often people who get the death penalty are murderes and if hey didn't get executed they would probably get out of jail and kill more people.

Is Texas for or against the death penalty?

The death penalty is a good punishment for committers of heinous crimes?

No it is not a good thing because innocent people will die unfairly by causes of racism and predudices,on the other hand yes it is because it would reduce crimes if the threat of death is there It would also mean closure for families that have suffered.

How does the death penalty affect the crime rate in the US?

All criminal sanctions reduce crime rates. Anyone that doubts that, just ask them what would happen if we did away with all criminal sanctions for all crimes. Therefore, yes, the death penalty deters, but it may not show up in crime rates. Very few crimes are death penalty eligible and executions are even more rare. All criminal sanctions, including the death penalty, deter some. Thereofe, there will be fewer crimes and fewer murders because we have criminal sanctions, than if we didn't have those sanctions. Even if it doesn't show up in year to year crime rate, there will be NET fewer crimes, than if we had no sanctions. Dudley Sharp

Why should the death penalty be revoked?

In my opinion I think that the death penalty doesnt help at all in any way possible. Because if you are sentenced to the death penalty and you were to die in the electric chair, would it teach you anything or would you care if you were dieing because it would be instant death and you don't feel anything. It wouldn't teach you anything and for one, if you were for example, in a high security prison vault with no social contact to the outside world, would that be a better and more reasonable punishment for you would be living through what you did and would never do that again. Also, other people would learn that they would have to be put through that forever if they were caught and that would scare off people and the crimes would go down. Right now, the death penalty isn't scaring off any criminals. In fact, the crimes in America are going UP fast and gangs are breaking out. Also, the death penalty cost over 180 million just to kill 5 people with the electric chair. That money ends up being paid back by regular peoples TAX money. If we were to put the criminals in prison, we would be saving around $240 million. And that money could go to crime fields and to the FBI or CIA or Police to search and stop crimes from happening. Bear in mind that the death penalty takes away a persons life though it doesnt help anyone does it? "Killing a killer is killing" "If we are against abortion, how can we be for the death penalty?" I firmly believe that the death penalty should be revoked and NEVER TO COME BACK!

What are the examples of sedatives?

Dura lex sed lex is Latin for "the law is harsh but it is the law." Examples would be disproportionately large sentences for drug crimes compared to violent crimes, or in some opinions the use of the death penalty in general.
