Generally, it is optimal to make a paper airplane symmetrical. I am not sure I understand what you mean by type of symmetry. However, some paper airplanes can be designed to be asymmetric and remain straight flying.
One is to test wich kind of paper works best for paper airplanes. Constuction, computer or tissue paper. Fold each into a dart and the farthest plane has the best paper. This is very easy it only took me about three days to do.
use regular typing paper and a small paper clip or two. put one at the nose of the plane and one underneath it where you hold it to keep it together. to learn how to make different types of airplanes (ex. ones that do tricks) go on youtube or type in "how to make paper airplanes" on Google.
There is a particularly good site which specialises in this kind of thing which can be found at: www.decks.com where you will find a lot of information which can help you, with a number of free designs available.
Tell me what kind of help you need.
Depends on your definition and what kind of airplane. Large commercial airplanes are the most efficient way to move people. Small airplanes are horrible wastefull things.
