Spain does not use the dollar, but rather is a member of the Eurozone, and thus uses the Euro as its currency.
All Euro banknotes are printed on watermarked paper, with over two dozen other security features to prevent counterfeiting. They are issued in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500, with each denomination having a different colour and artwork depicting generic architecture. The current series of notes was issued in 2002, and is set to be phased out from January 2013 onwards as new designs enter into circulation.
