What kind of drugs are in the world?

There are literally thousands of drugs (legal and illegal) worldwide; a comprehensive list is all but impossible.

Drug types include narcotics (opium-based drugs, such as heroin), stimulants (amphetamines), depressants (including alcohol and sedatives), psychotropics (mind-altering drugs, like LSD and mescaline). Some drugs cross classifications, like marijuana and ecstasy.

Then there are prescription drugs, which are generally fine when used as prescribed, but which can be just as deadly if abused or taken to excess.

The bottom line is that there is no drug which is completely safe. Even vitamin pills can be toxic if taken in large doses!
